Hwaseong Cafe Section: 4 Spaces, Media Art & Signature Desserts

Hwaseong Cafe Section in Namyang-eup feels like a place where you can enjoy both a cafe and exhibition-style spaces in one visit. It is divided into four areas, A, B, C, and D, with media art, artworks, and an outdoor space, so it feels different from a cafe that is mainly about sitting down for coffee.
The address is 293 Sinnaman-gil, Namyang-eup, Manse-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it is open daily from 11:00 to 21:00. There is dedicated parking in front of the building, which made visiting by car convenient.
Hwaseong Cafe Section location and opening hours
Cafe Section is located at 293 Sinnaman-gil, Namyang-eup, Hwaseong-si. When I visited, it was easy to find right next to Hwaseong City Hall Station.
- Address : 293 Sinnaman-gil, Namyang-eup, Manse-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do
- Opening hours : Daily 11:00–21:00
- Parking : Dedicated parking available in front of the building

Even from the outside, it felt closer to an exhibition hall or cultural space than a typical large cafe. Its location also worked well for stopping by during a drive around Hwaseong.
Why is Cafe Section called “Section”?
The interior is divided into four sections, A, B, C, and D, and each one has a slightly different concept. Once inside, the name felt like a direct reflection of how the space itself is organized.

There is a separate ordering area, spaces where you can see media art and artworks, and an outdoor area connected to the rest of the cafe. Rather than staying in one seat for a long time, the layout suited walking around slowly with a drink.

To me, it felt less like a media-art venue constantly showing dramatic videos and more like a space that builds its atmosphere through lighting, structures, furniture, and the architecture itself.
That restraint was part of the appeal. The overall mood was calm but still distinctive rather than overly flashy.
Why I was curious about the evening atmosphere
The use of lighting and darker spaces made me think the atmosphere would feel different after sunset. It already looked good during my visit, but while walking around I kept wondering what the space would look like in the evening.

I was told that the outdoor space also takes on a different mood when its lights come on at night. I did not visit after dark myself, so if you want to experience both daytime and evening, arriving around sunset could be worth considering.
For a date, it may also be useful to know that you can potentially enjoy both the daytime sense of space and the lighting after sunset.
What signature desserts does Cafe Section have?
Cafe Section has signature desserts designed to match the concept of the space. During my visit, the signature menu included Forest, Snow, and Soil, and I chose “Snow.”

We ordered two iced Americanos, the Snow dessert, matcha ice cream with croungji, and tissue bread.
Rather than looking like a typical large bakery cafe with long rows of bread on display, the desserts themselves felt more integrated into the overall concept of the space.
“Snow,” a signature dessert inspired by freshly fallen snow
Snow is a dessert designed to represent “snow piled softly overnight.” It was made with cheese mousse cake, mango puree, and coconut slices.

The presentation looked more like a small artwork than an ordinary slice of cake. The plate used for the dessert was also displayed in the space, which made even the plating feel connected to the cafe’s concept.
Bakery-style desserts
The soft cheese mousse was balanced by the bright mango flavor, and overall the dessert did not feel too heavy.
Matcha ice cream, croungji, and tissue bread
I also tried the matcha ice cream with croungji. The cold, slightly bitter matcha ice cream paired with the crisp croungji, creating a noticeable contrast in texture.

The sweetness was not excessive, so the flavors worked well together and also paired nicely with coffee. I personally enjoyed the croungji enough that I finished it before taking a proper photo.
Overall, the desserts were not only visually appealing. They were also pleasantly enjoyable to eat.
A Hwaseong cafe to visit for the space, not just the coffee
Cafe Section felt better suited to exploring the space itself than simply stopping in for a quick cup of coffee. Since each section has a different atmosphere, moving between them was part of the experience.

It was enjoyable to carry a coffee around slowly, look through the spaces, take photos, and stop for dessert along the way.
The interior is not excessively flashy, but it still has a distinct mood that feels different from many similar large cafes. If large cafes have started to feel repetitive, this one may feel refreshingly different.
Is it good for a Hwaseong date or drive?
If you are looking for a date spot in Namyang-eup or a cafe to stop at during a drive around Hwaseong, Cafe Section is worth considering. Its main feature is the combination of cafe, exhibition-style space, and media-art atmosphere in one place.
Opening hours and space operations can change, so it is a good idea to check the latest information before visiting.
